Kid Free

This week we have been kid free. I almost feel guilty writing this, but Scott and I have enjoyed some time to ourselves. Not that we don’t miss our sweet Seth, and we talk about him all the time… but to get to sleep in and clean up with out him coming behind me to redo the mess I just fixed is kind of nice. But it is not something I want to get used to, I would rather have my little man right here with me… mess and all!
While Scott and I are having a great time…I know Seth is too! He is hanging out with Grammy and Pops… who he calls Poppy. 🙂 I don’t think he even misses us. I know this because we can video chat with him through the computer. (pictured above)
He waves and says “Hey” and I may even get a blown kiss, but after a few minutes he is done talking and ready to get on to something else. 🙂 I remember those days and those feelings that Grandparents were the best thing ever…I still feel that way about mine!
This week has given me some time to read. I have been reading two of Dobson’s books… Dare to Discipline and Bringing Up Boys. Let me tell you, I am not much of a reader… but I have loved reading these books! I could barely put them down!
What parenting books are you guys reading these days??? I would love some suggestions. I would also really love to read a book about having more than one kid or introducing the Oldest child to his new sibling.

My kids are going to Grandma’s for a couple of days and we all can’t wait. They always look forward to a break and so do we. Then we look forward to the runion. I would suggest “Taking Care of the Mommy in Me” By Lisa Welchel. Great Book! It is one of my favorite so far. Great tips on taking care of yourself to make you a great mom. Have a good vacation, your little man will be back before your know it to snuggle, give you hugs and make that mess you miss so much. But I know… Read more »

I read Bringing Up Boys when I was pregnant with theEdge. SO good! I have the following on my Wish List:
Dare to Discipline
Parenting with Scripture
Grace Based Parenting
Shepherding a Child’s Heart
Heart of Anger
Teach Them Dilegently
I’m not sure that I want to purchase them all, but at least check them out of the library. Happy reading!

I LOVED that book Bringing up Boys. I should re-read it. He’s righting one about girls…can’t wait for that one!

We also really like Shepherding a Child’s Heart. Jody is re-reading that one right now.

My kids are all VERY excited about our new little one on the way. With Luke (2yrs old) we talk a lot about how we are all going to be gentle with the new baby. Never hitting or being mean…I hope this preparation works!! I never had a problem with Silas or Hattie…that I recall.

I read Bringing up Boys, but I read it later than I should have. It is a great book, so keep it handy and keep reading it for every season of their life! It is priceless!

Crazy, these are the two books that our Couples with Children small group from NCC decided to study this semester! We’re reading Dare to Discipline right now and having some great group discussion. See you guys soon next time we go down to visit Patty and Lukey!
