Tour of Homes

Thanks to It’s A Mom Thing for introducing me to this! But I thought it was a great way to let my family see my new house decorated for Christmas. You can click on this link to see hundreds of blogger’s homes decorated for Christmas….it is a fantastic way to get some ideas!

Welcome to the Parkison Home! Christmas is my favorite time of the year and it is going to be even more exciting this year with our almost 7 month old son.

My husband and I have been married for 1 1/2 years, so I don’t feel like I have a ton of decorations…my husband would disagree of course, but I look forward to collecting various items through out the years.

Most of what I do have has been given to me by family…Which makes it “all the better” in my opinion, because it is personal. I hope you enjoy the tour!

I think the outside is my most favorite! I want to thank my wonderful husband for handling it!

Our tree was given to us last year. A tradition that my Mom has done ever since I was born is giving an ornament each year that represents something that has happened that year. For ex: last Christmas I was pregnant, so I got a cute pregnant lady. When I was growing up, I preformed in the Nutcracker Ballet, so I got a Nutcracker.

This year’s ornament was very special. As you can see on my blog, that my brother is currently serving in Iraq.

I also love my nativity scene. I love collecting the angels all throughout the year and using them as the Heavenly Hosts!

Another family tradition…Snow Village. Grammy and Pops collect it and they have so many pieces that they now leave them up all year long in what we like to call the “Snow Room”. Through the years we always bought or gave my parents pieces of snow village that were related to our family in some way. For instance, the building on the left is a TV news station and I was a Broadcasting major..hints the TV station. I can remember as a little child, staring at all the details in the homes, buildings, and people. I am excited that I can now start my own collection.

The table…nothing fancy, but again all things that were given to me.

This tree was made by my Nana. It sits proudly displayed in the bonus room, where we spend most of our time!

This Nativity Scene was my Mimi’s. This also is displayed in the Bonus Room.

And last but not least, this Christmas lighthouse was my Nanny’s. I have it on Seth’s dresser and we play with it everyday. You can mash a little button and it lights up and plays various Christmas songs. Santa also circles around the lighthouse. Seth just loves to watch it!

Well, that’s it….simple, but I look forward to adding to it every year!

Here is a great Christmas recipe for parties…everyone will think you are so crafty…even when you are craft illiterate like me!

This link will take you to the Christmas Mice Recipe.
