I have been deeply concerned about Lylas heart condition from the beginning. For two years, I was worried as to how we would pay for it. We had so many options to consider…our insurance vs CoverKids…doing the procedure in India vs the US…possibly taking her to Haiti next year. For two years we really had no answers. It was not until about a month before we left that we firmly decided to do the surgery in India. Though the team of Dr’s was second-to-none. And though the procedure is simple, safe, and 99% effective. And though only a very small handful of patients experience complications…I still worry. I inheretied the “worry gene” from my mother. Right now, I am constantly concerned for Lyla. Though she is totally fine I worry about her. I also worry about Kelly after I leave to come home and she is left here in India without me.
But I am thankful to the Lord that he has held our hand through this. And this is how I feel…that God has been holding us with His hand and guiding us with his counsel.
Reminds me of Psalm 73:23-26:
“I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. Whom have i in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth i desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
