I have attached a video that is very special to me that I would love for you to watch.
On my second trip to India we practically spent the whole trip in various orphanages all over the country. The final orphanage we were in had about 300 kids in it. That was way over the occupancy, but the orphanage would not turn away children, and for that I am glad. They had a special program for their foreign visitors, and each age group of the kids sang and performed for us. I will never forget these young girls who appeared to be 12-13 who came up and sang a very familiar song in English…. Because He Lives.
I have sung that old hymn since I was a little girl, but never has it had an impact on my life until I heard these sweet girls sing it for me. Sure they were singing to an out of tune guitar, and you can certainly hear their accents… but when they sang the words… Because He lives I can face tomorrow, because He lives all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives… It became so real to me. Those girls standing and the hundreds of orphans sitting around them know the true meaning of the song. They have lost their families, they may sleep on a hard concrete floor that night, they may eat a small portion of food so everyone can eat, they know what real fear is, and they know life is worth living that way because Jesus LIVES!
And from that point on, I have never sung that hymn in the same way again. It was on this trip, as a single lady, God laid the desire to adopt from India on my heart… and here we are almost 8 years later. Tomorrow is a big day of results for my family and our adoption… But you know what…. Because He lives I can face tomorrow. Because He lives all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future and life is worth the living just because He lives!
