Dear Friends,
We desperately covet your prayers over our adoption for the next couple of weeks.
In my last post, I shared how there had been some miscommunication in our adoption process, and last we have been told it is in a Special Committee for review. At the time we really did not know what that meant.
We finally got some clarity yesterday…
It turns out our case was sent to CARA (An Indian Organization that approves all adoptions and is the 2nd to last step before an adoption is complete. In addition, when they grant the NOC, your adoption is pretty much official. The child is yours. Then the NOC is followed by court dates that get all the paperwork in order and then you go receive your child.)… It was sent to CARA in September. The woman who received our case…. gulp… denied us. She stated our biological children were too young.
According to our agency who has handled hundreds of adoptions from India, and according to Indian Adoption Laws, my family meets all the criteria to adopt our little girl that we were matched with last Feb 2012. Apparently this same caseworker has been denying other families as well, for no real good reason.
Because my family meets all the requirements within the laws… our case was refiled again to be granted the adoption of our little girl. Since this is the second time through, it has gone to Special Committee.
We have been told that this committee will meet within the next two weeks. Our agency asked us to write letters as to why we want this particular child so much. Needless to say it was rather emotional for us… Even the grandparents wrote letters, and Seth drew a picture of him and his sister playing.
How do you put into words, how much you love a child that you have never met? Because our family truly does love this child like she is already here. We have a room for her, clothes for her, toys for her, Christmas presents from grandparents for her…. We already feel she is a member of our family. We love her like our biological children…already.
I asked our agent if we could lose her, and I appreciate her honesty… she said we do have reason to be concerned. One positive thing she said is that there is someone within the CARA organization that is advocating for us.
So we are asking you to pray and be advocates for us too!
Scott says he has a complete peace and is not worried. He feels it is all going to work out.
Me on the other hand my faith is shaky right now. All I know to do is pray for God to work on the hearts of the committee and see how our family should be placed with our little girl.
I know He is in control… sometimes it is easier for me to say that than put it in to practice. Please pray for me too!
I promise I will be keeping everyone posted.
Please pray.
Praying! Love you!
