The Coffee County Fair
This past weekend our family experienced our first county fair together. Scott and I had not been to a fair in a very long time.
It was so much fun! This was the first time my boys have really ridden rides before and we thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the exhibits. And, I had to resist buying an airbrushed license plate and t-shirt that said ” Scott -n- Kelly 4-eva”! 🙂
This was the fair’s 153rd year. This year’s theme was “Where Memories are Made”. They also say that they are trying to preserve the past while looking forward to the future. I am so glad they do this, because I loved looking at the exhibits.
There was a bake off… who could make the best cookies, pies, etc. I wonder how I can become a judge for that contest??? Some others were…The biggest watermelon and other vegetables. There were also craft exhibits with quilts, photography, cross stitch, etc.
Of course, the boys loved the animal exhibits the most. They could actually pet some of them and they loved walking through the roosters and turkeys as they would crow and gobble. 🙂
Then we went outside and there were kids competing in potato sack races. I also know they have the Fairest of the Fair Pageants there too, and from what I understand this is a local preliminary to Miss Tennessee.
Here we are entering the fair. 🙂
Most of the rides are typical rides, which I loved seeing, because it brought back a ton of memories from Freedom Weekend Aloft (Another big event in Greenville, SC) and the Pavillion (in Myrtle Beach, SC). I kept telling Seth… “Mommy used to love riding that ride.”
However, there were some new ones I had never seen before, like this one…
This looked like so much fun and the kids looked like hamsters.
Looking forward to going back next year! I will post some more pictures from our fair experience soon!
