Today my friend took us to a really great mall called Alpha One. It has a fun play area and all kinds of video games, bumper cars, and bowling. We went for the play area, and when I saw it it was totally not what I was expecting. I was thinking like a little plastic side, maybe some tunnels, and a few swings…. Nope this was like a McDonald’s playground on steroids, but clean. 🙂
It has a trampoline inside, the big pile of balls to play in and stuff you could crawl up in and explore… but Lyla would not venture far. I think she knows her mobility is not super great and she has literally never done any of this stuff before. She went down the slide the first time not knowing what it would be like. We tried several more times and she refused. I had to coax her with chocolate cookies for several minutes before she would try again.
We window shopped a bit, and I did pick up a few small items. We also ate lunch there in the food court. I ate Indian food, Lyla had chicken nuggets from McDonalds. (Ironic)
After lunch we headed home. I got to do two fun things this afternoon while Lyla was napping…. first I helped a friend of my friends shop for a diamond. In college, I used to work for a wholesale jeweler… Insert advertisement here: Diamond Jewelers of SC, just ask for Bruce and tell him Kelly McCorkle sent you. He can beat any body’s price in the States…. and apparently in the world, I found out today. :)… It was so fun to wear my jeweler hat and help someone else for a change.
Next I had a private cooking class. 🙂 M gets together with several of her neighbors here in her complex once a week, and they rotate homes and learn how to make certain recipes together. It was awesome! I learned how to make an Indian dish, and got to eat it afterwards, with some chai, and some great conversation with some nationals.
One funny thing that did happen during the cooking. Apparently Pam, or spray cooking oil is new here, all of the ladies were commenting how they have just now seen this in India. The lady cooking then sprayed it while her gas stove was on, and a huge flame went up. M jumped and screamed. It was rather comical, but also dangerous. M had to educate them on the dangers of that and how the flame could go back in the can and explode the can in her face. Not sure she got it, because she did it again. M and I stayed back from the stove and watched from a distance from that point on…. ha!
Tonight my friends went on a date, while myself and another friend helped babysit the kiddos. We had a fun game of balloon volleyball and ordered Domino’s Pizza!
That was pretty much our day. I did hear from Scott and he made it to Atlanta okay, and he had our two boys when we face timed. He was going to have the other two soon after. I am so excited to wake up in the morning and face time with all of them together, and they should be home!!!
I talked with Mr. Pandit tonight, he says he will check on Monday about the passport. Keep praying! In a perfect scenario, where everything came on time and happened on time….there is a slight chance I could fly out a week from today and be home next Saturday. We’ll see???
As a good friend reminded me today of Ephesians 3:20…”God can do abundantly more than we can ask or imagine.”
I leave you with my sweet one toting around a purse that looks like a dog carrier, wearing shoes indoor (a fashion faux pas here) and she is being obedient by not crossing that black line. 🙂
Good night!
