This week in Manchester, I get the opportunity to participate in two musicals. One is at the local community theatre, Manchester Arts Center… and the other is at my church.
The MAC Musical is called Journey to the Manger and it is a great production with awesome talent from this area. There are several people from my church in it too. The story is about a local business owner that has always been turned off by the hustle and bustle of Christmas. But during the show he learns the true meaning and value of Christmas- JESUS! It is a great show with great music and some great dancing… I might add!
Fri. 7pm
Sat 2pm and 7pm
Sun 2pm
The second musical is Trinity Baptist’s Christmas Musical… Drawn
It is about people in the Bible that felt a drawing towards Jesus during His birth. In preparation for the musical our church began sharing with each other our own personal “drawn” stories to Christ. The testimonies have been awesome and God has now used our stories to impact our church, our work places, our homes, and our community.
I wish I could share everything that has been taking place, but we are seeing more and more people in our community feel the draw towards Christ, and that is what is all about!
Our musical has been postponed due to snow, but I know God had a bigger plan in postponing it…. I think He wants people to be there that couldn’t have come last night that can come next Sunday.
Come and I promise you will be blessed! 6pm Sunday Dec 19th
I also wanted to share something that took place with me during preparation for this musical…
just to show you how God is working.
For some months now, God has been placing a desire for me to some how get involved in some type of prison ministry. I have never done anything like it or been involved with that sort of thing… but I have not really acted on it. In recent days a friend of mine (Janet) and I have been looking into doing something at the local jail in town for Christmas. Then two Sundays ago at church there was a strong encouraging from the church to make sure we invite friends to the musical, because the musical is not for us to come hear each other sing… but to invite those who may need some spiritual nourishment or not involved in church.
Well, being new to town and so heavily surrounded by church people it was a struggle for me to think of who to invite. Monday morning I was praying and got this crazy idea… why not invite the inmates to come see the musical. Knowing this could be a logistical issue and not sure if this sort of thing is allowed, a church member helped us set a meeting with the sheriff. And unbeknownst to me at the time… that same day our church secretary had received a call from someone in the community that was wanting our church to reach out to a family member in jail in our town. After the meeting today…. 10 inmates are coming and I believe that particular ‘family member’ is too. Isn’t God cool? I mean here I was for months not sure what to do about this desire… and then the day I act, someone calls the church requesting that type of ministry… and boom people are coming to the church to hear the gospel presented. I am telling you, this is just one small example during this whole “Drawn” process I have seen God move.
Feel free to comment and share your own personal ‘Drawn” story to Christ! How have you felt Him drawing you closer to Him this season?
