My Lil’ Sis

Today I want to brag on my little sister. Her name is Courtney Cisson. She has brought joy into our family’s lives since the day she was born.

I will never forget that day…I was in 7th grade and became an instant babysitter. I really didn’t mind too much, because she really was a good baby and so much fun.

I tease her all of the time telling her she was such a sweet baby until she learned how to talk! 🙂 Now she is 16, and she is still sweet…most of the time. 🙂

This summer she will be competing in the Miss South Carolina Teen Pageant. She is adamant that she is not following in her big sister’s steps, but she believes in the program of Miss SC and is competing on her own merit.

One of the components of The Miss SC Teen Program is community service, and Courtney is focusing her work on the Children’s Miracle Network and Encouraging Youth to Volunteer. She plays banjo for her talent and is representing her hometown Greenville, as Miss Greenville County Teen.

I would like to ask all of my friends to pray for her as she prepares. Now I know some of you out there are thinking this is silly to pray for a girl in a pageant…but there really is so much more to pageants- at least the Miss SC and Miss America pageant- than being on stage and looks. I know firsthand the opportunities contestants have to impact the community in positive ways as well as for the Kingdom of God.

I have already seen Courtney and other contestants competing this year making a big difference in their communities. There is a lot of work that goes into something like this and I just ask that you pray that she will keep her focus on Christ as she prepares and that God would provide her numerous opportunities to share His love with others.

If you are interested in helping her raise money for the Children’s Miracle network…even if it is just $1… you can go to her website an donate on line at this link.

You can also visit her blog that she just started at Youth Volunteer Opportunities in SC.
