We are all slowly but surely getting better in the Parkison home. After Seth got sick, it then became Daddy’s turn. So we all got to be sick together…good times…good times. But my pitiful little boy is feeling so much better; he is now smiling again. Yay!
One awesome thing we have gotten to do this week is go and visit some incredible families in our church. Well, to be honest, our church is full of incredible families. I should know…Scott, Seth, and I go out every Thursday night and visit with them all. We have really enjoyed it! Sometimes at church, we’re all too rushed to really carry on conversations and we really don’t get to know people personally that way….so since the week we got here, we spend every Thursday night visiting with four families in their homes. It has been so much fun and we have definitely gotten to know people so much better doing this.
All of that to say…last night we visited with some special families in our church. We went and visited with the 40 West Families. 40 West is a ministry within our church and it is led by to of our members and what I consider to be local missionaries, Katharine and Monty Ray.
Forty West Ministries is a non-profit ministry serving the Massey apartments
(lower income housing) and surrounding area in Wake Forest, NC. The ministry and missionaries are supported through gifts from family, friends, and churches. At the moment, our primary focus is home missions and getting others– particularly the local churches–involved in mission opportunities.
So that’s just a little about them, but last night we went over to Massey and visited with the kids and their families. It was such a blessing, just another reminder of what a privilege it is to serve in ministry.
