Excuse the lengthy post, but the blog is like a baby book…so I want to record all the new things he is doing. (Thanks for the idea Lacey.)
Hey Monkey, Sethy, Buddy, Cute Thang, Sweet Boy, Angel (these are all the nick names I call you.),
You turn two years old today. It is hard to believe you are a toddler. These two years have gone by fast for me, but they have been the best two years of my life. You are such a gift from God, and your Daddy and I say to each other everyday how special you are and how much we love you. We know the Lord has something great in store for you.
This past year you have done some exciting things…you went to the beach, traveled to Texas to see Papa and Gigi, traveled to Mississippi to see Mimi and your cousins, traveled to Greenville many times to see Pops and Grammy, saw your share of college football games, wore a tux to the Miss SC Teen Pageant, saw your Aunt Courtney become Miss SC Teen, got to know your Uncle Brent better when he came home from Iraq and saw him marry your Aunt Emily, you went to the zoo several times, you moved to a different room and went into a big boy bed, you swam a whole lot at the Pittenger’s, you went to Vacation Bible School and we started more play dates with friends from church, you traveled to Washington, DC, you saw your first snow and loved it, you became obsessed with the movie Cars, you got a set of drums, you started talking a whole bunch, and you became a big brother.
You are like a sponge soaking everything in. You repeat everything Mommy and Daddy say and you like for us to repeat you too. You are learning your colors, and started counting to ten…with exception of the number 3, for some reason you won’t say that number. 🙂 You also are learning your letters and shapes. It is amazing how much you have learned in such a short time…you are very smart and you definitely didn’t get that from me!
You are showing a slight interest in potty training and have successfully gone one time, but not in weeks. You like baths, but not washing your hair, and you are getting really good at brushing your teeth. You go to bed very easily in your own big boy bed, and take long (3 hour) afternoon naps.
You love to eat and let me know buy saying…”Hungy Mommy Hungy.” You love sausage and biscuits for breakfast, chicken nuggets and pizza are your favorite meals. You also like fruit, especially grapes. Veggies…we are still working on…you are particular about how they are cooked. 🙂
You will also wear a hat now, without much of a fuss. You have had several hair cuts, and you sit absolutely still. The stylist always tells me he can’t believe how good you are. Dr. Joe, your pediatrician says the same thing. You are never scared of him and you sit very still while he checks you over. You do cry when you get a shot, but a sucker makes everything ok!
While behaving great in public, you are definitely beginning to test me at home. You are testing your boundaries and are getting sent to Time Out. You also like to do things when you think I am not looking, but I am! It is hard to discipline you, because you are so stinkin’ cute! You make the funniest expressions and I often have to turn my head and laugh while you are getting in trouble. But overall, you are well behaved and have good manners….always saying “Excuse you” instead of excuse me. 🙂
You absolutely love animals and know what sound almost every animal makes. You adore your dog Samson and he adores you back. You are buddies, always playing or should I say tormenting each other.
You have good friends from church that you talk about at home…Emma, Ella, Liza (Eliza), Harrison, Wobert (Robert), Nate, and Abanna (Savannah). And you started saying your nursery workers names too…Miss Jurie (Julie) and Miss Peggy.
You have also started saying your own name… “Sep”. When we drive up to the neighborhood you say with delight, “Sep’s house.” You also have started telling everyone and everything to “ave a good day” when you leave it. Even if it is tree that we ride by in the car. You recognize where you are when we are driving. You know when we are getting close to the church, you know when we are getting ready to pass Hill Ridge Farms, you can spot McDonalds from far away, and you know when we are getting close to home.
Your favorite movies this year have been Happy Feet, Polar Express, Jungle Book, and Cars. Right now, you will not let your toy cars out of your sight. Lightning McQueen travels with you at all times. You also love trains and sprint straight to the train tables in the nursery at church.
You absolutely love to be outside and are always asking to be out there, even when it is raining. You love to take walks with Daddy and beg to hang out in Daddy’s truck. You have become Daddy’s little buddy. Don’t get me wrong, you are still a Mama’s boy….always calling for me, wanting to know where I am, crying to me when you are hurt…but you love to do everything your Daddy does. You wear your “Daddy boots” and if Daddy sneezes you sneeze, if daddy lifts up his arms…you lift up your arms. You two wrestle and tickle a whole bunch and you play football together.
You are saying your prayers at night and the blessing at the table…so sweet! It melts my heart when you tell Jesus thank you and you love him.
Also it is the most incredible thing when you… on your own… tell Mommy and Daddy “I wuv you.” It is the best sound in the world.
Seth we are so proud of you and will always be. We love you and cherish every moment with you. We are so thankful that God brought you into our lives. You have taught me so much about my own personal relationship with Jesus. You are a treasure and I look forward to watching you grow and doing my best to “train you up in the Lord.”
You will always be my baby!
Love
Mommy
