This morning one of the pediatricians, Dr. Nitin, came in and said she could be discharged. We are very excited to get out of the hospital. The service and the staff were wonderful, but we need some freedom from being cooped up in this room! (this was about 9am) We also got the chance to facetime with the boys this morning.
We bought some chocolates as gifts for the Sisters that have taken care of Lyla. They were very appreciative and all of them were having their picture taken with her.
It is now 12pm, and they say they are still processing our paperwork. We have asked the nurses how much more time, and they say a half hour. We have learned from our past visits to India, that Indian time is stretchable. 🙂
One good thing about our paperwork being delayed is Baby Shlok’s parents came by our room to visit. Through many tears we were able to pray with them. Last night, they received a call from the hospital that Shlok had been put back on a ventilator. They are heartbroken, tired, and longing for answers.
We talked for a while, and tried to encourage them to reach out to God during the process.
As they were leaving, we hugged and prayed one more time. I felt the Lord nudging me to give Shlok’s mom one of my most favorite possessions ever… “The Power of the Praying Parent” book, by Stormie Omartian. I felt like I was handing over one of my children, because that book has been with me since Seth was born, and has played a big role in my parenting journey. But, I know I can get a new one. I highly recommend this book to any parent out there! I hope so much that Ishita, Shlok’s mom, will read it and find truth and comfort in the prayers and scriptures throughout the book like I have.
I have been jokingly saying to Scott that I did not realize we were on a mission trip, or that he was going to have to make hospital visits while he was here. But truthfully, I stand amazed at God and His sovereignty, at how our paths have crossed with certain people in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad. I want Lyla to know that He has even used her adoption and her surgery to reach people for Him. I Wonder how He will use us in Ahmedabad again and New Delhi??? I am excited to see!
But it is also a good reminder, that no matter where you are, God wants to use you. You don’t have to be on a mission trip, or going through an adoption to be used by Him. The two main people that we have been able to witness to, just happened because of everyday life. The first, a family, that we sat beside in a hallway while waiting on a doctor. The other while we were getting service for Internet at a phone company. Anyone can do this! My prayer is that you and I will always be sensitive to the needs of others around us, no matter where we are each day!
Right before we were finishing being discharged, the hospital brought their media team in and interviewed us with cameras. I told you we have made it big here! 🙂 They said we would be on their website. We finally started making our way out of the room, some of the hospital staff came and they presented Lyla with flowers. God was so faithful to send us to Star Hospital!
